Hi, I’m vicky copeman
From a young age, I’ve always been deeply drawn to health, well-being, and the natural world. Growing up camping, hiking, and spending time outdoors, I developed a love for movement, self-care, and the healing power of nature. I’ve always had a spiritual connection, a deep sense that there is more to life than what meets the eye, and a curiosity about how we can thrive physically, mentally, and emotionally.
My journey took an unexpected turn when, at the age of eighteen, I was caught in a massive earthquake in California. The trauma of the experience led to a year-long struggle with panic attacks. During this challenging time, I was fortunate to find a compassionate GP who introduced me to self-management tools like guided relaxation and breathwork. These simple yet powerful techniques helped me regain control, ease my anxiety, and empowered me to face life’s ups and downs with confidence.
Experiencing panic attacks first-hand opened my eyes to the profound impact that our thoughts and emotions can have on our physical bodies. I came to understand how stress, frustration, and suppressed emotions can manifest as physical symptoms—like pain, fatigue, and illness. But I also learned that when I used the tools I had been given, or simply spent time in nature, things always seemed more manageable. Life felt lighter, and I felt more capable of navigating the challenges that came my way.
This growing passion for health and wellness led me to become a physiotherapist, where I had the privilege of helping people regain their physical health. But over time, I realized something was missing. I noticed that many people with chronic pain weren’t responding to the typical treatments—exercises, medication, and physical interventions alone weren’t enough. I saw that their emotional and mental well-being was just as crucial to their healing, yet these needs were often overlooked by the traditional medical model.
I could relate. I knew from my own experience how deeply anxiety and stress can affect the body, causing symptoms like pain, palpitations, tingling, numbness, and sweating. This realization spurred me to dive deeper into holistic healing. I sought out further training in modalities like acupuncture, reflexology, and aromatherapy, all of which helped expand my understanding of how mind, body, and spirit are interconnected.
As my knowledge grew, so did my desire to offer a more integrated approach to healing. I became a yoga teacher, adding more tools to my toolkit, and eventually pursued specialized courses in yoga for chronic pain and mental health. Along the way, I earned a diploma in Ayurveda, which deepened my understanding of the mind-body connection and the impact of repressed emotions on physical health.
My work culminated in the design of a yoga therapy course for chronic pain patients, which I led for a local pain management team. This experience confirmed for me that the medical model was not enough to truly heal people. Patients needed more than just symptom management—they needed a holistic approach that honoured their mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
When I discovered Georgie Oldfield's work and the SIRPA approach, I felt an instant connection. Her background as a physiotherapist, coupled with her holistic approach to pain, was exactly what I had been searching for. Completing the SIRPA course was a transformative experience, and I knew that I had found my true calling.
Today, I am more passionate than ever about helping people take charge of their health. I believe that we all have the power within us to heal, to become well, and to live our best lives. I’m here to guide and support those who are ready to break free from the limitations of the traditional medical system. With the right tools and guidance, it’s possible to overcome physical pain, emotional blocks, and mental stress—and to do so in a way that honours the whole person.
I started my own business because I believe everyone deserves access to holistic, personalized care that goes beyond treating symptoms. No one should have to keep going in circles, feeling stuck, or waiting for answers that never come. I want to help you discover your inner strength and give you the tools to live a life that is healthy, balanced, and full of possibility.
You have the power to transform your life. Anything is possible.
My Approach
How I Can Help You Abolish Chronic Pain: A Holistic Approach to Healing
Chronic pain is more than just a physical condition — it’s a complex issue that affects your entire being. The pain you experience is often the result of stress placed on your central nervous system, which becomes overloaded, triggering inflammation and pain. But here's the truth: treating just the symptoms won't lead to long-term relief.
A Biopsychosocial Approach to Healing
I work with people who are ready to break the cycle of chronic pain by addressing the root causes — not just masking the symptoms. My approach is based on a biopsychosocial model, meaning I consider your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Research has shown that chronic pain is a multifaceted condition, and treating it requires a comprehensive strategy.
Why Traditional Medical Approaches Fall Short
While the NHS and traditional medicine are excellent for acute medical emergencies, they often fall short when it comes to chronic pain. The medical model typically focuses on finding a physical cause, but doesn’t consider the mental, emotional, and social aspects of your life. This narrow approach leads to:
Misdiagnosis or a lack of understanding of the root causes
Temporary treatments that provide short-term relief but don’t address the underlying issue
Endless referrals to different specialists, leaving you with no long-term solution
It's like having a leaky roof that causes dampness on a wall. If you only treat the wall, the damp will come back because the leak is still there. If we only address the physical symptoms of chronic pain, without tackling the root cause — the stress and overload on your nervous system — the pain will persist.
How I Help You Heal
I take a holistic approach to chronic pain by exploring and addressing:
Physical Health: Understanding any physical imbalances or dysfunctions that may be contributing to your pain.
Mental Health: Identifying stress, anxiety, and negative thought patterns that exacerbate your pain.
Emotional Health: Exploring emotional blockages such as fear, anger, or past trauma that could be manifesting as physical pain.
Social Circumstances: Considering your lifestyle, relationships, and environment, all of which play a role in your overall well-being.
By working with you to desensitize your nervous system and tackle the root causes of your pain, we can gradually stop the triggers and create lasting relief. Together, we’ll develop a personalized plan that addresses the physical, emotional, mental, and social factors contributing to your pain.
